Swimming is possible from the rocks which are a short walk away.

Travel
Catania is approximately a 45 minute drive away and Palermo is approximately a 3 hour drive. The Interbus shelter is immediately outside the arrivals building at Catania Airport and the cost is 4.10 euros pp directly into Ortigia at the Riva Della Posta. Ortigia is best experienced on foot but to explore Sicily there are car hire companies located in Ortigia, which rent cars on a daily basis. There is also ample public transport, coach and train.

Distances
Ortigia has many impressive historic areas especially Piazza del Duomo which is surrounded by Baroque architecture. The Neapolis Archaeological Park where both the impressive Greek Theatre and the Roman Ampitheatre can be seen are within a 15 minute drive or a 30 minute walk. Noto is approximately 30 minute drive south and has many beautiful restored Baroque buildings. The Valley of the Temples at Agrigento would take approximately ninety minutes and Mount Etna is about an hour north of Ortigia.
